Child Safety & Compliance
Safety Is Not a Checkbox. It's Our Culture.
Every Bullseye program is built on a foundation of rigorous safeguarding, verified credentials, and a coaching culture that puts children's wellbeing above everything else.
Our Promise
Our Commitment to Every Family
We understand that when you hand your child over to a sports program, you're placing enormous trust in us. That trust is something we take seriously — not just in policy documents, but in every decision we make, every coach we hire, and every session we run.
Our safety framework has been developed in line with Queensland's Child Safe Standards, the Working with Children (Blue Card) Act, and best-practice guidelines from Sport Australia. It is reviewed and updated every 12 months.

Verified Credentials
What We Hold. What We Maintain.
These aren't one-time boxes to tick — every credential is actively maintained, audited annually, and available for school coordinators to review on request.
All coaches & staff
Blue Card Verified
Every Bullseye coach and staff member holds a current Queensland Blue Card (Working with Children Check). Cards are verified before first contact with students and monitored for renewal. No exceptions, no temporary exemptions.
HLTAID012 & CPR
First Aid Certified
All coaches hold a current HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting certificate, which includes paediatric CPR. Certificates are renewed every 3 years (CPR annually) and kept on file.
$20 million coverage
Public Liability Insurance
Bullseye Sports & Training carries $20 million public liability insurance covering all school programs, incursions, and events. Certificates of currency are available on request for school administration.
Before every session
Site Risk Assessments
A written site risk assessment is completed before every program commences at a new venue. Assessments cover surface conditions, equipment safety, sun exposure, emergency access, and student-to-coach ratios.
QLD compliant
Child Safe Standards
Our programs are designed and delivered in accordance with Queensland's Child Safe Standards. This includes clear codes of conduct, mandatory reporting obligations, and a zero-tolerance policy on inappropriate behaviour.
UV & heat management
Sun Safety Protocol
All outdoor sessions follow the Cancer Council's SunSmart guidelines. Sessions are rescheduled or moved indoors when the UV index exceeds 3 or when the heat index poses a risk. Shade, hydration breaks, and sunscreen application are standard.
Coach Screening
Who We Let Near Your Children
Our hiring and onboarding process is designed to keep unsuitable people out — and to build a team of coaches who genuinely care.
Zero Tolerance Policy
Any coach found to have breached our Child Safe Code of Conduct is immediately stood down pending investigation. We do not wait for external processes before acting to protect children.
On the Ground
How We Run Safe Sessions
Safety isn't just about credentials — it's about how we behave on the ground, every single session.
Strict Coach-to-Student Ratios
We maintain a maximum ratio of 1 coach per 20 students for standard programs, and 1:12 for swimming. For programs with students who have additional needs, ratios are adjusted in consultation with the school.
Two-Adult Rule
Wherever possible, a minimum of two adults are present during every session. Where this is not possible (e.g. a single-coach incursion), the session is conducted in a fully visible, open area with school staff present.
Defined Activity Zones
Before each session, the coach marks out clear activity boundaries. Students are briefed on these zones at the start of every session. No student leaves the activity zone without explicit permission.
Mandatory Hydration Breaks
Hydration breaks are scheduled every 15–20 minutes for all outdoor sessions. In temperatures above 28°C or high humidity, breaks are increased in frequency and duration. Students are encouraged — not just permitted — to drink water.
Emergency Action Plan
Every session begins with the coach confirming the location of the nearest first aid kit, the emergency contact for the school, and the closest access point for emergency vehicles. A written Emergency Action Plan is held on file for each venue.
Medical Information Protocol
Before programs commence, we request medical and allergy information for all participating students from the school coordinator. This information is held securely and reviewed by the coach before each session.
Equipment Safety Checks
All equipment is inspected before use. Damaged or worn equipment is removed from service immediately. We do not use improvised or non-purpose-built equipment for any activity.
Incident Reporting
Any incident — including near-misses — is documented using our written Incident Report form within 24 hours. Reports are shared with the school coordinator and retained on file for a minimum of 7 years.
Standards of Behaviour
Our Code of Conduct
Every Bullseye coach signs and commits to this code before their first session.
Signed Before Day One
Every coach signs a copy of this Code of Conduct before their first session. Breaches are treated as grounds for immediate termination of engagement.
Always prioritise the physical and emotional safety of every child above program outcomes.
Never be alone with a single child in an enclosed or non-visible space.
Use positive, age-appropriate language at all times. No yelling, belittling, or sarcasm directed at students.
Physical contact is limited to safety-critical situations (e.g. preventing a fall) or skill demonstrations with explicit verbal consent. No unnecessary physical contact.
Never photograph or film students without written consent from the school and, where required, parents.
Report any concern about a child's wellbeing — including disclosures — to the school's Designated Child Safety Officer immediately and follow mandatory reporting obligations.
Do not communicate with students via personal social media, messaging apps, or personal email addresses.
Arrive prepared, sober, and fit for duty. Any coach who is unfit to coach must notify Bullseye management immediately.
Legal Obligations
Mandatory Reporting & Disclosures
All Bullseye coaches are trained in their mandatory reporting obligations under the Child Protection Act 1999 (Qld). If a child discloses abuse or a coach has a reasonable suspicion that a child is at risk, they are required by law — and by our policy — to report this to the Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs.
Coaches are trained to respond to disclosures calmly, without leading questions, and to document what was said as accurately as possible. The school's Designated Child Safety Officer is notified immediately, and Bullseye management is informed within the same business day.
Child Protection Act 1999 (Qld)
All coaches are trained in their obligations under Queensland legislation.
Disclosure Response Protocol
Coaches respond calmly, without leading questions, and document accurately.
Same-Day Notification
School DSO and Bullseye management are notified within the same business day.
7-Year Record Retention
All incident reports are retained on file for a minimum of 7 years.
